Yosemite

Watch out it's another sign!

Today after a FIVE hour drive we went to Yosemite.  I've always heard of Yosemite and have always wanted to go.  The drive through was hair raising!  Lots of switchbacks and steep curves!  Beautiful views though!

Yosemite valley is where we saw most of the wildlife.  The rest is typically rocky.   It was extremely busy!  Much more busy than Yellowstone was and everyone seemed to be in such a hurry!  

Looking at a forest fire!

Maybe it's because I didn't take time to hike but it just didn't seem as good of a park as Yellowstone did.  We were in the more populated areas though so that is probably why. 

Forest Fire

Hmmm.. think someone was having fun!

 We did catch glimpse of a forest fire that had been burning since MAY.  The park was watching it and as it was over primarily rocky territory and not a danger to anyone they would let nature take it's course.




The turnout I stopped at had lots of rocks and trails down.  I went down a little bit and have a sneaking suspicion that someone was there before me.  Lots of rock structures.  It was a charming find:)

 We stopped at one turnout and there were three or four blackbirds (crows, ravens, whatever).  One was perched on a sign and the other two were hopping up and down the line of cars begging for food.  We didn't give them any but it was funny to see a bird beg.

We also saw Barfy here.  He just seems to be everywhere!  At any rate, most of the wildlife seemed to be in the valley itself but I'm sure if I spent a few days hiking and camping I would find it better than I did.  We didn't see any bears again either:(  Maybe at Sequoia!
