Today is a driving day. We have one stop to make and that is at the California Interpretive Center outside of Elko, NV. I discovered this little gem on a random whim when driving through Nevada last year. It is a national site so we got our passports stamped and proceeded to go on in. I love that it is FREE and so well put together. There are hands on activities for kids and adults alike as well as murals and even a dress up area!

| Mom and Tommy have seen the elephant! |
One of the first things you see coming into the museum is the picture of a prospector looking at an elephant. "I have seen the elephant" was a common phrase to the Oregon Trailers. Basically it meant that they couldn't really describe the trip as it was so complex and hard to believe. I think we would refer to it as a "you had to be there" trip in today's world.

| It was made of what looked like hay so I had to huff and puff... It didn't blow down! |
Outside are trails to walk and a recreated Indian village. They also had wagons to look in and at. It was a great little break after four hours of driving! We drove to Winnemucca from Elko and had a really early night! It was great! Ordered in pizza and just vegged. We were at the Days Inn and it was great! HUGE room for very little cost!
why were you the big bad wolf when tommy has a whole face of hair? ;) i'm glad you're having fun!
